Art Holiday May 2012

The month of May is such a beautiful time in Menorca. That’s why we choose to arrange our Art Holiday at this very special time of year.

The island of Menorca is awash with flowers and colour and all this comes as quite a surprise for the artists who have not been to the Balearic Islands before at this time of year.art holiday Menorca

We don’t even have to walk very far from the Hotel S’Algar set up our easels and paint all this glorious colour and spectacular countryside – it’s right on our doorstep near our poolside studio.

Photographer’s Painting
Now I’m going to let you into a secret… I am a photographer, not a painter, but even I could not resists trying to capture something of the essence of the Menorcan countryside in May. The painting above was my first attempt – so please don’t laugh.

I made the painting from a photograph and while I took it I was being serenaded by three – yes three! – nightingales who were singing in broad daylight.

Yes, Menorca is a very beautiful place in May – why not come and join us this year for a Painting Holiday with artist Sue Ford. There are still a few places available.

Art tutor’s 2012 UK Art Holiday dates

Sue Ford, the lovely lady who leads our Art Holidays in Menorca and provides such brilliant tuition, has posted her 2012 list of dates and prices for her UK Art Holidays and Art Courses.

Artist Sue Ford

Our art tutor Sue Ford painting during an Art Holiday in Menorca

Sue is kicking off the New Year with a fantastic offer of a 5 day Art Holiday in Scarborough for just £165.

This is at The Delmont Hotel and includes en-suite room, TV, coffee/tea, half board. There’s no single supplement and Sue Ford will be providing daily art demos and tuition.

Sue Ford runs lots of summer art classes and course so it’s well worth keeping up with developments on her own website where Sue also posts regularly on her blog: www.sueford.co.uk

Of course Sue’s Art Holidays in the UK are very different from those we run on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Menorca, but the level of tuition Sue offers is just the same, and these UK Art Holidays are a great introduction to Sue and her gently inspiring teaching skills.

Tango Dancing Video – two

Here they are again – Jenny and Ricardo demonstrating on another video just how easy it is to dance wonderful Tango during the Tango Holiday in Menorca.

Well, let’s just say they make it LOOK very easy. But then, they are the best of tango dancing teachers!

You can join Jenny & Ricardo in Menorca September 2012 for their very special Tango Holiday in Menorca.

Tango Dancing Demo Video

It has been some time since we returned from Menorca in September for the Tango Holiday with Jenny and Ricardo.

The delay in posting and contacting the tango dancers has been caused by Norene’s recovery from the heart surgery, so I’m sure everyone who joined us for the holiday will understand. Norene is recovering well now and is really looking forward to next year’s Tango Holiday. I would like to thank all the Tango Dancers for their kindness at was was a very stressful time for us. It was wonderful to know that you all had such a wonderful time in Menorca.

So, now I am slowly getting around to contacting everyone and I have just put together the first of what I hope will be a short series of short videos showing the holiday and, in particular, showing Jenny and Ricardo’s wonderful dancing during the demonstration the put on at The Hotel S’Algar on the last night of the holiday in Menorca.

I know their dancing had everyone mesmerised and I did promise I would post the videos – so here is the first.

Hold on to your hats – and try to watch those steps – your turn to dance tango like this next year.

The next Dancing Holiday in Menorca with Jenny & Ricardo has now been arranged for September 14th-21st 2012. This year’s holiday was fully booked – so please don’t leave ittoo long to secure your place. BOOK NOW

Tango Holiday – dancing lesson video

Outside the sun is hot, and it is shining brightly on the pool and the blue Mediterranean. Inside the air-conditioned Tango Dancing studio, Jenny and Ricardo are hard at work teaching the 30 dancers enjoying another Tango Dancing Holiday at the Hotel S’Algar in Menorca.

The video below shows Jenny and Ricardo hard at work – their enthusiasm and energy shows through very clearly.

The weather is glorious and this afternoon the tango dancers will relax, have lunch, sit by the pool or explore this lovely island of Menorca. There will be more tango tuition for those who want it, though – each afternoon Jenny and Ricardo run special dance ’surgeries’.

Tonight the atmosphere will change completely – it will be social dancing with Milonga after dinner. The candles will be lit on the tables around the dance floor. The tango dancers will relax, share, and perhaps put into practise some of the techniques they have learned during the day during their Tango Dancing Holiday in Menorca.

Dates for next year’s Tango Dancing Holiday have now been arranged – find out more – then come and join us for a wonderful Tango Holiday.
