These inspirational Art Holidays are based in beautiful Kirkcudbright, known for over a century as Scotland’s Artists’ Town, home of the Glasgow Boys school of art. Painting Kirkcudbright Harbour during an art holiday in Scotland with Inspiration Holidays
On these painting holidays, which are for artists of all levels, you can trace the brushstrokes of the Glasgow Boys and discover what inspired these gifted artists.

Your tutor for the Art Holiday - artist Sue Ford sketching in E. A. Hornel's studio. You will have the opportunity to use Hornel's studio during your painting holiday in Scotland
You can learn how to paint or improve your artistic skills and painting technique with the guidance of an experienced art tutor while relaxing in one of the most beautiful and historic areas in Scotland.
You will soon understand why so many artists settled in Bonnie Galloway on the coast of SW Scotland. Kirkcudbright, which nestles beside the tidal River Dee amidst glorious countryside, is home, even today, for many creative artists, craftspeople and galleries.
Many of the painting locations that inspired the ‘Glasgow Boys’ (and girls!), are still to be seen today in and around Kirkcudbright. Your art tutor Sue Ford will explore these with you. You be able to relax and paint them with Sue’s guidance and help.

Privileged access to painting locations
We enjoy a very special relationship with the people of Kirkcudbright, and you can share our privileged access to some private and hidden painting locations not normally accessible to the public.
In particular, you will have the unique opportunity to set up your painting easel and paint in the studio and garden of Broughton House, home of E A Hornel, one of the most famous and prolific of the Glasgow Boys. This property is now owned by The National Trust for Scotland (NTS).
