Award for Scottish Country Dancing teacher

Our brilliant Scottish Country Dancing teacher Moira Stacey has been awarded one of Royal Scottish Country Dance Society’s (RSCDS) top awards.

The RSCDS Award, an illuminated scroll, was presented to Moira at a ceremony in Glasgow earlier this month.

The RSCDS Award is for:

  • Recognition of outstanding service and loyalty to the Society.
  • Maintaining the aims of preserving the standards and traditions of Scottish Country Dancing.
  • Encouraging in others the knowledge and enjoyment of Scotland’s Heritage of Dance and Music

Moira gained her teachers’ certificate at Summer School in 1978, having already taught country dancing since the 1960’s. She served on the Executive Council of the RSCDS and the Summer School Committee

She has taught at Summer School in St Andrews and in New Zealand, Norway, Moscow and Portugal, at Denman WI College for 20 years and at Day and Weekend Schools throughout the UK.
Moira was instrumental in the foundation of Doncaster and District Branch in 1979 and in Retford and District Branch in  1984. She currently teaches the Gatehouse of Fleet Branch and  South West Scotland Dancers.  She is the current chairman of Kirkcudbright Branch.
And to top all that, Moira is our teacher for the dancing holidays in Menorca each year.
